Negative thoughts abound. But in eternity God created and developed the whole thought of the universe. His thought is positive — even about humankind! I admit, I get negative when the talking heads of the news are so negative; when evangelicals preach about scary end times; and when educators sound the alarm that the East will surpass the West in education and job competition. I get negative that terrorism is such an angry and restless beast that my children and their children might not receive rest from it. Negative thoughts do abound, but the thought that really controls my thinking is God’s thought for humankind. While the creation proclaims the glory of God and shows that God really cares for humankind, the Bible specifically expresses God’s thought. The Law of Moses summarizes God’s thought for all time in the covenant God made with Abraham to bless all nations on earth through his descendant. I believe this is God’s unique, positive thought for all of humankind; and that this great thought controls God’s purpose for the world. Negative thoughts abound, but I embrace God’s positive thought. See 1 Corinthians 2, especially verses 11-12.
